Monday Musings - Holy Week recap

Right now, it's 4 p.m. Monday and all of the kids are home from school for Easter Monday. They are having their quiet alone time so I thought I'd take this time to catch on Holy Week.

This past weekend was really beautiful. But I'll start back on Holy Week. We went to Holy Rosary for Palm Sunday, very beautiful and then around Tuesday, Scott told me we had a showing for Sat. morning, so we went into show the house mode. While I did not like having a showing on Holy Saturday, it was good in that it pushed us to the next level for the house. We (Scott) did a lot of of work over Wed. Thursday and Friday. Power washed outside and then painted, trimmed and carpeted Sam's attic room and stairs.

Wednesday did Easter shopping with Gracie and Lucy, this year we did something different in that we gave the kids their Easter baskets from us and the bunny did an outside egg hunt and a family gift. Presents this year were for Abbey and Sam a pretty inspirational poster from Angel Corner (Abbey footsteps and Sam mountain scene reminiscent of The Way), Josie and Thomas Mad Libs, and Lucy play dough and Gracie a book. They all got chocolate cross and Lindt lamb and chocolate egg and assorted chocolates. The little ones also got a new spring book each.  Sam also got l r center game.

Sometime in this, I got the purple clothes on the crucifixes and paintings

We spent Holy Thursday at Holy Rosary and came back to split pea soup, unleavened bread, applesauce with raisins, grape juice and mint chocolate chip ice cream, it was a good dinner.

Good Friday I picked kids up at noon and then took them back to OLL for the service, long, but good.
Friday night Josie had a birthday party to attend (again not what I wanted but thought it okay because it was a birthday) and then when we picked her up at the hotel, we saw the most gorgeous moon, had to call Scott and my parents and Julie, it was just too beautiful Also on Good Friday had success with hot cross buns, yeahhh, they worked, the rest of the day's food was peanut butter and homemade bread.

Holy Saturday started early and busy, because of the showing at 10 a.m. Then I went to Target and saw what the bunny brought us - a donut maker. Later friend Julie called and came over for visit. Scott went to watch Masters (we cancelled cable) and the I took three big kids to Longhorn Steakhouse with gift card (Thomas went to friends to hang out) once home completed Easter baskets and 'hit the hay.':-)))
'
also decorated this day - made Easter trees in front room and den on altar, put up mantel eggs and Alleluia letters, tied new ribbons on wreaths and hung out forsythia wreath

Sunday woke up to beautiful day. Did the baskets, also had a family basket with cookie cutters, lily, Easter story, pizza cutter, lamb mold, butterfly activity book. Then we saw the bunny had come, went out collected eggs, and found his present, a bright yellow donut maker. Breakfast was a scrambled egg casserole, fruit and toast and doughnuts. Then we went to mass at Holy Rosary, very beautiful. and then over to Mom and Dads for family Easter. Patrick was there, and it was very fun.

Some memorable things and definite consolations,- the Friday full moon, seeing the walker on I465, the Easter reading on unleavened bread and the phone call from Patty. Also Thomas is making fast friends with Charlie two doors down. They love jumping on the trampoline. Girls watched some movies this week, Anna and the King, Anne of Green Gables the sequel, Easter Carol veggie tales, Peter Cottontail, Singing in the Rain. We also ordered a lot of Easter picture books. We had a beautiful Easter weekend and are looking forward to celebrating Christ's resurrection these next fifty days.

Saying prayers for mom as she is in the hospital with some bowel problems, dad just said doc thinks it will be okay,

plans for this week, would like to hang out 50 eggs and get Paschal candle made, also see my Grandpa and send out some Easter cards, also need to get  b-day cards, and of course lots of home improving to improve selling chances.

Happy Easter to you and yours.
