Monday musings

Right now, it's 7 a.m. and the kids are still in bed. Taking this minute to catch up on a very busy weekend.

Friday, Dad went to a senior basketball night down for his school. Then Sat. I met a friend for coffee. Sat. afternoon took 1 and 3 up to babysit Grandma's kitty, then took 2 to his confirmation class. He did a very good job preparing earlier in the week. Two and I went to Mass Sat. afternoon. Sat. night Dad took to a basket ball game and then on Sunday Dad took 2 and 4 to wrestling tournament and I took all others to 3 volleyball game and then to play practice. We ended the weekend celebrating 4's birthday. He turned 11 (can't believe it) Gifts were a book Shadow in the Dark, Treasure Island, a woodburner tool, a photo album of his 10th year, and some new high top tennis shoes. And we had a football cake. Ended the night watching Toy Story 3. All in all, a good busy weekend.

This week need to work on 2s paperwork for school and maybe think about getting some starts started. And of course keep chugging along in school and continue to purge from house.

On the needles, frogged a phone cosy cover, now working on some infant socks. I have never knitted socks before and figure this is  good place to start.

That's all for now.

Our millenial baby and a head full of numbers

Two turned fourteen on Thursday. Two is our millennial baby. I don't think I realized that until last year when we were walking around our Children's Museum (something every new thirteen year old loves to do:-) that I realized Two was turning 13 on Feb. 13, 2013. It was a quite an aha moment for me :-) so I guess now in my old age, I won't have to worry about remembering how old he is unlike my constant confusion of Five and Six whose birthdays and months and years are full of 10s, 11s and 12s, in reverse order. I get constant pauses and head tilts when I am asked their birthdays, and it always takes me a minute to sort it all out. Oh well, it's all good. Happy Birthday, dear Two. Happy Birthday, dear boy.

My book sale finds

Just returned from our local library book sale. I love going to book sales. It's always a treasure hunt, and today I did pretty good. I went in wanting only to buy one bag for $7 but then left with two. That was okay. Several on way out had the same experience. My top finds were one and two of the Rangers Apprentice series (our kids love those). Other finds: a lot of good art books, a kids' cookbook, some Austen (I'm trying to build up our collection), a copy of Little Women and Rebecca (two favorites), books for Six, and two copies of Killer Angels (one of my favorite books.) Note: for an adult read through first as there is some questionable language, but none in my opinion surpasses it as far as a recounting of a such an historical event as Gettysburg. If you have any library book sales near you, I highly recommend as they are hard to beat for the money and fun.

Happy St. Valentine's Day

Well, it's St. Valentine's Day, happy, happy to everyone.

Right now, it's about 8 a.m and everyone in house still asleep. We've had a busy last week or so. Last week, Scott's Grandpa did pass away. Scott went up for the funeral on the night a huge snowstorm was scheduled to hit. He got a little trapped up there, but did make it home the next day. He will be missed

Last week, also found out G. has been accepted to the state health program, good news indeed.

On Sunday J had volleyball game and rehearsal and then we celebrated Sam's 14th with my parents out here. Had some pizza, then presents, this year, a personalized photo album, very fun to make and give. Last night (Thursday) more presents, new Nike shoes, a new shirt and bag. Bigheart cake. Happy birthday dear boy :-)

Right now, out side, still snow on the ground, cold, lovely view outside front window, with bales covered in snow.

Yesterday, spent a lot of time on Ravelry, organizing yarn and projects, would love to join with Yarn Along sometime, maybe I will go public with this blog soon. I find so much joy and contentment knitting and crafting, would love to join with others who also share that love.

Speaking of, on the needles, working and working on pilot hats for babies, really just keeping fingers busy, as our printer is down and I can't print off patterns. I have pilot hat pattern memorized and it's easy to take on the go. Also doing Easter eggs and would love to get some dresses knitted for Lucy's doll.

In kitchen, Valentine dots very fun. Need to buy tea and Sam's club goods

On the nightstand, still reading Return to the Hundred Acre Wood with Lucy, hope to start Peter Pan or Charlotte's Web soon. And I need a good book , Austen maybe??

Looking forward to more birthdays, getting tax return :-)

This weekend, more vb and wrestling practice tonight, playing taxi after for big kids, book sale :) yeaaa, Sam formal dance Sat. night, vb and rehearsal Sunday.

Bye for now
