Saints and sunsets
Hello,
Just a quick catchup of our very busy last month. At beginning of month, boys competed in city wrestling tournament. Both did very well. Four placed third and two placed second, yeaaa, It was really fun, will miss wrestling season, but know it will roll around again all too soon (and no injuries this year, very good). Other note, two got mvp of the team. We're very proud of him.
Amidst all wrestling, celebrated feast days of St. Patrick, St. Joseph and then the Annunciation. For St. Patrick, had Irish stew, Irish pretzel dots, Irish soda bread and St. Pat pudding, for St. Joseph, had pasta and red sauce and a Danish pastry. For Annunciation had blueberry muffins for breakfast, stroganoff and angel food cake for dessert.
Had a little bit of warmer weather about a week back, took kids to Southeastway, our favorite park, hiked and soaked up the sun. But then the cold returned.
In grow boxes, our radishes, spinach and broccoli peeking through. Romas also growing.
In house, cleaned up back room, bought a freezer and built table for storage.
On needles, have switched gears and am working on a milo for L.
In kitchen, made new two month menu plan and am really liking it.
Reading a couple books on St. Padre Pio and St. Faustina, both picked up at local conference. I was very happy to be able to go.
On the field, S and J starting and baseball and softball. Attended very informative meeting for S about freshman football. We're looking forward to it.
This spring break, lotsa appts. G went to dentist yesterday for first time, and it went really well. Next week, she gets evaluated for speech and ot to restart therapy. After spring break, we will revisit putting in school for fall.
That's all for now, hopefully next time sun will be out.

Yarn Along
Hello, this is my first time joining Yarn Along. If this actually works, I will be amazed (as I'm a very slow tech learner.) But anyways, I just really wanted to join the party :-) so here goes. The pattern I've been working on of late is this daisy chain for our youngest G. My mom thinks it's going to be too small, but I have high hopes. I'm also wanting to use up this yarn so I can buy some new. As for reading, I think I'll save that for next time (you know the links and all) I could be on this for the next four hours, and we wouldn't want that. Ok, here I go ....
A hint of spring
In other news, we celebrated Fat or Shrove Tuesday with waffles and strawberries, and then went for our ashes in shifts, Dad during lunch, A at school and the big kids and I later in the evening. This Lent instead of giving up something, I'm trying to work on adding something, particularly some form of housework, which can always be a bit challenging to me. As for the kids, besides the sorrowful mysteries, also trying to read to them more before bed, especially from the Bible stories and saints lives.
On the sports field, J finished her volleyball season, with the team getting third place overall, yeaaa. J really came on strong at the end of the season, giving us reason to think she might play in high school. J also rehearsing weekly for A Midsummer Nights Dream, she plays Hermia's dad Egeus.
Boys finishing up wrestling season tonight with the city prelim and tomorrow's finals. I have really enjoyed driving them in every night (seriously) and the little break I get in the evenings. (Dad usually drives them on the weekends,) And S has started baseball practices.
Around our homestead, as you can see from the pics, a fox visited us recently. I was looking out front window and saw him in the field across. Had to grab my camera, it was really cool.
And as mentioned above, the cold frame and seed starting, very fun.
On the downside, our dryer is broken, and we're hanging clothes on the back deck until we get a new one. But that's okay, makes me feel real industrious and pioneer like.
On the needles, still G's daisy chain sweater. I like that it is so easy.
Anyways, hope your day is wonderful.

An Ash Wednesday day book
Right now, it's 4:15 and I'm waiting for three children to return and husband to return from work before heading off to Ash Wednesday Mass. Two, Six and I had good day today. Ran several errands, returning some items and then getting Two's haircut and having a fish sandwich picnic in the van.
This past week, has been busy, wrestling and volleyball are winding down. Six had the flu which has been keeping us awake at night. We are very ready for spring.
On the needles, a daisy sweater for Six. I really want something pretty for her to wear this spring.
Recently finished, my first socks and another pilot hat. I love that pattern.
In the kitchen, working to expand our menu and get on more of a meal plan. Made homemade yogurt (which I've done before), but was really glad when it turned out.
Off to balance the checkbook, back soon.
