Tilling and planting

This weekend was beautiful, and we-husband was able to get the garden tilled and fertilized. (I had the hard job of untangling the hoses and watering:) We also extended the garden for potatoes and strawberries (later of which we still need to plant). As pictures show, the spinach and radishes are coming in great. In between all my heavy duty garden work, I also saw in the paper that two free goats were available and mentioned it. When the topic of names came up, my husband said he would name them (edited version), No way, and Hosea. (I think that was directed at me :-) Hope you have a wonderful day.

Easter eggs, basket and a road map

Hello again,

Wow, two posts in one day. I feel prolific or maybe I'm just avoiding housework? hmm it's a tough one. Well, wanted to share a photo of Easter eggs and basket made for L and G. The other one is of our new picnic spot at a favorite park and the last one is our new map to Pentecost. What you say? Well, I found after Lent that we really enjoyed and benefitted from having our Lenten road map, and L loved coloring the boxes, so I thought why not improvise and make another one for Pentecost. Not the most artistic, but it is getting the job done. (Plus it's helping me count down the days till the last day of school:-) Thanks for visiting. Hope you have a blessed weekend.

Yarn Along (late edition)

Hello,

Just now joining Ginny's Yarn Along (which is normally on Wednesdays but I'm posting on Friday) - Set aside the daisy chain for a while and am now making good progress on my first milo (for L, she is easiest to knit for) after frogging it once. I have never done cabling before, and I'm finding it easier than I thought, (and it makes the knitting in the round not so monotonous.) I'm knitting with a beautiful wool I was able to buy at a local yarn store from a gift certificate from Christmas (thanks mom and dad). As for reading, am trying to finish The Life of Faustina Kowalska. I do not know very much about this twentieth century saint and wanted to learn more with the Feast of the Divine Mercy being on Sunday. I am liking it very much. Blessings.

Our zoo trip

G's first speech appointment went really well.
Then we had great time at the zoo. (Thanks to grandparents for helping make it a great day.)

Bye for now.

Spring break

Well, spring break 2014 has come and gone, and I'd have to say this was one of the nicest ever. Usually spring break finds me bemoaning the fact that we can't jump in the van and drive south for the week. But this week, I think we were really too busy with the all the appointments and what not. For the record, S was rebanded Monday, and then four had dentist appts. G was evaluated for both ot and speech, and A had a dr. appt. In between all that dr. fun, we built our second cold frame and dried out our basement which got wet for a second time. (this time we have also rerouted the gutters, so hopefully that will remedy the situation.) We were able to catch the Hobbit at the dollar theatre, hit the half price day at the local thrift store and hike at our favorite park, breakfast out with mom was also good. S also completed some of his service hours. Heard a really good talk by author Mike Aquillina at our parish.  All in all it was a very good spring break, now if it could just warm up just a little bit.  Bathing suit shopping here we come :-)

Apple trees, braces and a little water

Hello,

Well, right now, it's 7:06 p.m. and we've had quite a bit of rain today. Dad out trying to get some pieces to keep our basement from flooding, and I thought I'd take the time to catch up.

This past week, good, busy. As I said before lotsa appts. G. did well at her ot therapy eval and will resume weekly ot next week. S got rebanded for braces. At least four had dental appts. And S worked at our parish spaghetti dinner for his service hours. Tomorrow, G has her speech eval.

In the garden, Dad planted our two apple trees in the far back. We're very excited to someday have our own apple harvest.

On the needles, restarted L milo. Hopefully, I'll get it right.

OK bye for now.
