Mid winter daybook

Right now, it's about 5:51 p.m. and S just got home from grueling drive up to Elkhart to see his paternal Grandpa. He is not doing well and may pass away this weekend. S stepmother called to let us know things weren't looking good, and S headed up last night (and then back again today.) Hard trip, especially with the drifting snow mid state, but we're glad he went. He would have regretted not going.

Today, Saturday,I've been just here at the house, moved L clothes downstairs to my room, as she was not getting herself ready very well, and her clothes have been very miskept. Hopefully, this way she and I can keep them in better order. While at it, I rewashed all her clothes and threw away holey and stained ones. Also cleaned up the lil girl room, Ray has taken to tearing up some of her books so there were lots of torn pages on the floor. Also got chicken breast marinading and made grilled cheeses and chicken noodle for lunch. T friend U here, they're best buds, tried their hands outside but it is coooolllddd.

S and J in Chicago with nannie and pappaw watching A little Prince. Am sure they're having a great time. A and L and Gr just hung out here and we all watched the snow blow across the field across the street while waiting for daddy to get home safely.

In the kitchen, made two batches of oatmeal raisin bars yesterday. Also have cinnamon rolls waiting to roll out. Need to clean and organize my recipe box for upcoming spring and summer. Cooking my frozen corn on cob right now, hope it turns out good.

In school, only did about two real math lessons with big kids this week, we took Wed. off to watch March for Life in DC, such a great thing, so glad A went.
history, still Civil War, calling the troops, Bull Run and Monitor and Merrimac
Bible, wedding at Cana, baptism
started memorizing List every Catholic should know, my kids need refresher on these
still doing Shakespeare, J starts play monday

On needles, still having fun knitting pilot caps, just can't stop, and J likes making poms poms for them, also am trying to make cozies for cell phones.

This week, volleyball, play practice, and wrestling, first big tournament next Sunday, also a couple dr. appts.

Speaking of drs. been working on G reevaluation for children's and finding her a good dentist, also got S high school app in

That's it for now, bye

Evening book :-)

Well, it's 7 p.m. and I'm listening to teen and preteen boys in the kitchen rummaging through cabinets for food. :-) I guess that's normal :-) Scott has taken A to see a friend and J and L are in the family room watching our new streaming device, I love that thing, very worth the trouble of installing it a couple weeks ago.

Today was spent getting A ready for her big trip to DC tomorrow for the March for Life., This is her first time in DC so we are really excited for her. She will spend all day Monday in Gettysburg (I'm so jealous) and then Tuesday and Wed. in DC. The march is Wednesday and then bus ride home.

In school, this past week was our first week back after break, we had big snow cold front move in around Jan. 4 and all schools around here out for the following week, so we had an extra week of break , yeaaa. (We got alot done including building some new shelves in the family room and getting the streamer up and running.) Yea no more trips to video store.

So in school - working on math again, (Sam retook entrance test)
Latin, actually did a lesson :-)
History, starting Civil War :-)
J reading Caddie Woodlawn and about St. Cecilia
T reading a Stonewall Jackson book and St. Paul

me reading to L and T, Raggedy Ann and Andy and Danny Champion of the World

In the kitchen, not much new, restocking cinnamon rolls, lots of  soup, chili
On the needles, I'm in love with new pattern for pilot cap, made two for a new baby, and one for L, working on two for nephews

Looking forward to , Valentine's Day :-)

Other things, boys started wrestling this week and J started vb in earnest. J also auditioned for Midsummer Night's Dream, she has been cast in part as Egeus Hermia's father :-) they re low on boys

Also catching up on Downton Abbey (on streamer) it is a beautifully filmed show

Have started, trying to pray morning prayer in liturgy of the hours, I do like it, can't wait to get back to Latin Mass

That's all, bye bye
