Monday musings

Right now, it's the afterschool hour. The kids are watching a Big Foot show in the living room and Lucy is watching Noggin. Gracie is in bed for a late afternoon nap.

This weekend, was rather uneventful. On Friday, A had her friend Desiree spend the night. I knitted and watched Harry Potter with the middle kids. Dad took S to play his Magic game with other gamers on these northside. On Saturday, Dad worked in the morning and there were some challenges with one of kids. In the late afternoon, Dad took the four kids to his school to run around, which they reported was very fun. A had a babysitting job. Sam and I watched the movie Contact late night. He really enjoys watching movies with me, and I think they stimulate some good discussions. On Sunday, Sam did his first serving at OLL. Dad said he did a good job. Then for the rest of the day, we worked on upgrading Josie's room. Sunday evening I took the other kids to Little Flower's mass. (We split up to avoid taking the babies out in the January cold).

We did avoid any tv watching all day on Saturday, yeah for us.

oh, and one big thing, I learned how to purl stitch and how to do the stockinette stitch, I worked on a coffee mug cozy and it is three quarters done. I just have to learn how to sew the ends together :-)

Some plans for this week, getting through to payday :-)

Time for myself, more learning about knitting

I am grateful for, same as last week, family, family, family, good school and church and good friends

Somethings that have made me smile, A liking her chicken rice dinner, S liking movies, J liking us fixing up her room, T waving goodbye to me and always telling us he loves us, L working on her alphabet path this coming week we're working on letter P, Gracie singing Q,RS, TUV and still playing itsybitsy spider :-)

bye for now,
me

Monday Musings

Right now, it is 8:15 a.m. and I just dropped the kids off at school. I just love our school. It's so close, and the kids really seem happy there. I am listening to the dryer and the rest of the house is silent. Scott is home sick from work today ( a flu bug or something) and Gracie is still asleep. It is very peaceful.

This weekend, was really nice. On Friday, while the four big kids were in school, the babies and I went up to pay the mortgage. That evening, we had three sports practices, boys wrestling and Josie volleyball. Afterward, I watched Master and Commander with Sam and the last part with Abbey (both seemed to like and had lots of questions) We seem to be in a naval thing here as over Christmas break we had fun watching the Pirates of the Caribbean, all four in a row. Sam likes to walk around now and say ' Savvy mate:-)Saturday was really nice as the girls and I had an all day shopping spree at Kohls, Abbey really needed something to wear to Mass, we ended  up getting her some black pants and she and Jo also got pretty shirts and Abbey found her formal dress, yeah. Then we went to Chilis for some yummy food and chocolate molten cake, this was huge treat for us as we rarely, try never, go out to restaurants. On Sunday, it was pretty cold out, so we went to 11 a.m. Mass at St. Bernadette and then spent the rest of the afternoon doing our Jane Wooster Scott winter puzzle. (I highly recommend those). On Monday, I took Thomas to get a badly needed haircut and then he and I got some  epiphany water from Holy Rosary to make holy water gifts. We spent the rest of the afternoon making paper snow flakes to decorate the house. They are very pretty and bring a smile to my face each time I see them.  Abbey and I ended the day with a trip to Target and Joanns just to get out of the house and do a little ooh and ahh shopping.

Some plans for the week, need to get paperwork in for Scecina, keep up with sports schedules and doctors and therapy, I also need to try and fill the freezer as much as possible.

If I can find time for myself, I want to teach myself to make the little crocheted corsages for St. Patrick's Day.

I am grateful for my husband, my kids and the rest of our families. I am grateful for our school and the teachers and our coaches. All are so good with our kids and make our life easier and better.

Some prayer intentions, for the little girl I read about with leukemia in the paper and her family, for Scott's kids, for our priests.

Something that makes me smile, when Thomas gives me hugs and kisses, Gracie singing ABC song and lighting up to itsy, bitsy spider, Abbey, hosting Lucy in her room for a weekend sleepover, Sam , saying 'Savvy mate :-) and Jo, so eager to help with craft projects.

Thank you Jesus for everything,

me

Happy New Year

hello everyone, this is just a quick note to catch up on our Advent and Christmas. Both were very lovely. This Advent was one of the best we have ever had. We started it off with Stir Up Sunday - a day when I made my first ever plum pudding and two fruit cakes. Everyone took a turn stirring. We had a Jesse Tree set up but had some trouble reading the stories every night. My resolution is to make some ornaments so we can be better prepared next year. We did the picture book basket, very fun, for toodles, Oh and we also made our first Thanksgiving dinner, complete with everything :-)))

Going through the calendar - we had a really fun St. Andrew, cupcakes with gummy fish for Dad's feast day

St. Nicholas Day, also very fun

Also celebrated Our lady of Guadelupe Day and St. Lucy Day

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception was beautiful, our church is very beautiful at day and night ,

Christmas lovely

Most recently have been enjoying watching The Pirates of the Caribbean movies with Sam, 'savvy' :-))))

Hope to post again soon
