Monday Musings

Right now, it's 8:45 p.m. Monday night and the kids are half in bed or rather half the kids are in bed. The dishwasher is running, and I thought I'd try to catch up on our very hectic month.

This past weekend, was very, very busy. Both boys had big wrestling tournaments, Sam at St. Maria Goretti on Saturday and Thomas at the McClellan tournament on Sunday. Sam placed fourth and Thomas won first. Very fun. I made some sloppy Joes for the McClellan and donated paper goods. Josie also had a volley ball game (which she lost) Something very good was our girl walk in the park during Sunday's McClellan tournament. We had such a nice time, Gracie got lots of good exercise and Lucy played with her stick "metal detector." Abbey helped with them, while Josie ran free with Mom's camera taking lots of nature pictures. It was a beautiful Sunday.

To catch up, our February has been full.

Both boys had their birthdays, S, turned 12,  got a $20 card to Game Preserve and some Naruto books, and a gummy fruit cake (like Captain Jack Sparrow), had chicken pockets for dinner :-)
T, turned 9, and got a new skate board, and some NFL cards. He requested fried chicken for dinner. I, or rather Nanny and Pappaw, who came to both, were happy to oblige. We also celebrated Nanny's birthday. I gave her a knitted tea cozy :-)

Also fun this month, A went to her first formal with her friend D. Everybody came over to see her over, and she looked lovely. Aunt Jan and Uncle Bob were special visitors and the next night our nephew, Nanny and Pappaw and Aunt Jan and Uncle Bob returned with donuts and we played cards :-)



Our plans for Lent this year,
for praying, we are going to try to pray the Sorrowful mysteries nightly and attend the Stations of the Cross''
for fasting, we are foregoing desserts after dinner
for almsgiving, we're filling a bean jar with beans for good deeds, these will be transferred into jelly beans on Easter and pennies for the poor ( or to fill the baby bank)

I am enjoying trying to decorate more for Lent. Over the weekend I bought some grapevine wreaths and some purple ribbon, I'd also like to incorporate the words Pray, Fast and Give in the house at different spots. I'd also like to find some cactuses.

We're still wrestling with putting the house on the market. Hope it goes smoothly.

Plans for this week, therapy, work on recipe cards, get the granola made once and for all :-)), cancel the cable tv
